The Banner of Stygia Flies

The Hierarchy, the heart of Stygia's culture. Since Charon's induction of the Legions of the Seven Hills on the Isle of Sorrows the Hierarchy has been both oppressive, tyrannical, merciful, and a necessity of the afterlife. With their numbers and firepower they have brought some semblence of peace to Necropoli throughout the Dark Kingdom of Iron.

DEATHLORD: The Smiling Lord of the Seat of Burning Waters

CAUSE OF DEATH: Violence

Everyone knows the Grim Legion, the most populous Legion in Stygia. Overseen by the Smiling Lord the Grim Legion also hosts the dreaded army aptly named the Ten Thousand Centuries. Outfits of the Grim Legion are everywhere, their deathmarks shown with a manner of pride or sadistic glee.

The Emerald Legion

DEATHLORD: The Emerald Lord of the Seat of Thorns

CAUSE OF DEATH: Accidents, "Acts of God"

The Emerald Legion is known primarilly for it's accounting attitude. More Mercantile than Military, the Emerald Legion is populace of places of economy and trade. Docks, incoming freight from other Necropoli are usually overseen by the Emerald Legion. When it comes to dependability and efficiency, the Emerald Legion wins hands down for the "Best Customer Service" you'll get in the Shadowlands.

The Penitent Legion

DEATHLORD: The Laughing Lady of the Seat of Succor

CAUSE OF DEATH: Insanity

What can you say? The Legion where it is most famous for it's bizarre military organization and tactics, what do you expect from the Madmen of Stygia? The Penitent has the most unexplainable organization in all of the Legions, and unnerve many individuals. All Penitents have their own style of Deathmarks, which usually take the form of Blood stains and as the Penitent comes closer to Oblivion, the darker the stain of blood. A visible marker on how close the Insane are to fall from grace.

The Skeletal Legion

DEATHLORD: The Skeletal Lord of the Seat of Dust

CAUSE OF DEATH: Illness

The military branch of the Legion is noted for it's specialization in Archery and long-range combat but more impressively and noted is the Skeletal Legions civil jobs. Mappers of the Shadowlands and Tempest, research and development on skinland diseases as well as inspectors checking the balances of power within the Legion the Skeletal Legion tends more toward Civil than Military regardless of it's massive Military Size.

The Silent Legion

http://images4.wikia.com/whitewolf/images/c/c5/SigilSilent.gif

DEATHLORD: The Quiet Lord of the Seat of Silence

CAUSE OF DEATH: Suicide, Despair

The Silent Legion is simplistic in it's Cause of Death. Suicide relates to a vast amount of concepts including Martyrdom as a better example of the 'good suicides' that inhabit the Silent Legion. The Silent Legion is far more Military than Civil in it's affairs, usually acting as Emotional councilars to the other Legions, aiding in the depressions of others with their own experience. Many Hierarch Pardoners stem from the Silent, the second least populace legion in the Hierarchy.

Doesnt mean some of the Silent dont toss themselves into Oblivion, the ultimate escape from existance.

The Iron Legion

http://images3.wikia.com/whitewolf/images/0/02/SigilIron.gif

DEATHLORD: The Ashen Lady of the Seat of Shadows

CAUSE OF DEATH: Old Age, Natural Causes

The Iron Legion usually holds itself as the legion of experience. Usually dealing with Fortification of Necropoli the Iron Legion tends to have it's members when not on combat duty dealing with their old trade. Blacksmiths, tailors, and other Legionnaires of this Legion continue their practice in death, experimenting in new methods of combat is another major aspect of their MO. However, since the addition of Natural Causes to the Legion in 1824, The Iron Legion hosts a few younger members who are usually cannon fodder and shock troops for the Legion being seen as 'inexperienced'.

The Paupers Legion

http://images2.wikia.com/whitewolf/images/1/10/SigilPaupers.gif

DEATHLORD: The Beggar Lord of the Seat of Golden Tears

CAUSE OF DEATH: Mystery

The Legion of Paupers hosts the most enigmatic of the Legions. Due to being those of Mysterious deaths the Paupers make the best investigators. However, the Paupers, to the other Legions is the "Dump Legion". When a consensus cannot be arranged by the Legions they are given to the Beggar Lord which gives a sense of bitterness to the Legion's members. Their Deathmarks are always mysterious and cryptic, to a point where Fatalism has trouble discerning the cause maintaining the truest sense of a 'mysterious death'.

The Legion of Fate

http://images2.wikia.com/whitewolf/images/7/7e/SigilFate.gif

DEATHLORD: The Lady of Fate who yeilds no Seat of power

CAUSE OF DEATH: Unknown

The Legion of Fate is the least populous of the Legions. Usually those of Fate's touch suffered heroic deaths which seems to be the only acknowledgable semblence of Legion taking. Reapers of the Fated are untouched by other Legions, seeing that Fate tends to it's own. Of all the Legions, the Legion of Fate is the most disconnected from Stygian Politics, tending to it's own design more so than the political schemes of Stygia yet their numbers are always in demand throughout the Shadowlands, hosting the best warriors and skilled wraiths the Shadowlands has to offer.
