Chargen

The following are items you need to know before submitting a character for application and staff approval. Reasons are given for each item.


Banned

Mnemoi Guild: This Forbidden guild are killed on sight by all. Your chances of survival are nil, and we would hate to see a character concept faulter that quickly. Please do not apply a Mnemoi.


Restricted

Alchemists: This Forbidden guild is hard to detect, and thus can easily avoid detection. For this Guild member to be submitted, Wraith staff would like to know your availability for rp, and experience with wraith. Playing the forbidden guilds is a great thing, but you are a secret op. Gotta play it right.


Solicitors: This forbidden guild is skillful in it's undetection. Their arcanos allows them an easy getaway. For this guild to be submitted, Wraith staff would like to know your availability for rp, and experience with wraith. Playing the forbidden guilds is a great thing, but you are a secret op, gotta play it right.

IC Crossings Sometimes circumstances allow for crossings. With valid reasons and consideration I will allow. Please see rules for crossover. Speakers with the Dead can crossover if they desire.


Encouraged

The following things are highly encouraged among Wraith applicants:

  • Original concepts: Not everyone has to be a suicide or a murder.
  • Non-Skinland Powers: Argos, Castigate, Usury and all those wonderful powers that Wraiths have to interact with other Wraiths. At least one or two dots, if not more, in one of these type powers is a great thing.
  • Goals: All characters should have goals, but Wraiths especially. You find yourself stuck in the Shadowlands for a reason? What is keeping you there and what do you plan to do about it?
  • Hierarchy: Hierarchy apps are currently strongly encouraged.
  • Renegades: Renegade apps are definitely desired.
  • Circle Applications: You don't have to be a lonesome deadite. You could have made a comradery of wraiths who either just took a liking to you, or who have bonded together for mere survival. Circle Applications are wanted heavily, primarily for Circles being a core society function in the Shadowlands.
  • Loa Applications: Opportunities abound for the Kingdom Les Invisibles

We currently have a bit too much of the following things. This is not to say that you can't do this, it is simply a note to let you know that your concept will not be 'original':

Template Opportunities

These are the following chargen templates you have to choose from, anything other than template 1 will be approved based on depth of background with increasing difficulty based on the level of the template and knowledge of the Wraith sphere, rules, theme, and books.


Template 1: Lemure (Standard chargen)

Template 2: Mature Lemure (4Max/2Taken)

Template 3: Elder Lemure (3Max/1Taken)

Template 4: Gaunt (2Max/2Taken)


The restrictions on availability for templates 2-4 is so that we have a balanced sphere. We have the old to lead and the young to learn, OOC as well as IC. Everyone will have more fun this way.

Chargen Application

This process is designed to be quick and painless. However, please do not use the chargen online unless explicitly told to. Hand-statting can avoid problems that Wraiths often face with the online code.


The Process

These are the steps for Wraith application:


Step 1: Submit your character concept (and a character sheet if you want) to Perdyta (perdyta@metrostaff.spork.com) or through Metro's +concept (+help +concept). Note that you do not perform shadow character creation -- Shadow generation is performed by Wraith staff, though suggestions are welcome.


Step 2: Wraith staff will look over concept, and, if accepted, you will be hand-statted. At this point you must complete the various essentials. You can find what you need by typing +check. This will include Background (+help +bg), Aura(+help +aura), Info (+help +info), Streetwise (+help info2), etc.


Step 3: Wraith staff will generate your Shadow, including Dark Passions, Thorns, and Angst. When that is complete, you are approved for play!

These are the available template point levels. It is best to consult with staff prior to applying for anything over template 1 to ensure that slots of that template level are still available!

Template 1: Lemure

  • Attributes: 7/5/3
  • Abilities: 13/9/5
  • Advantages:
    • Arcanoi: 5
    • Backgrounds: 7
    • Passions: 10
    • Fetters: 10
  • Willpower: 4
  • 15 Freebies
  • Merits & Flaws
    • 7 points maximum in each
  • Starting Lores (No Cost)
    • Ghost-Lore 5
    • Wraith-Lore 1
  • Age: 5-60 years in the Shadowlands.

Template 2: Mature Lemures

  • Attributes: 7/5/4
  • Abilities: 15/10/7
  • Advantages:
    • Backgrounds: 8
    • Arcanoi: 7
    • Passions: 10
    • Fetters: 8
  • Willpower: 4
  • Freebie Points: 15
  • Merits & Flaws
    • 7 points maximum in each
  • Starting Lores (No Cost)
    • Ghost Lore 5
    • Wraith Lore 2
    • Faction Lore 2
  • Age: 60-150 years in the Shadowlands

Template 3: Elder Lemures

  • Attributes: 7/6/4
  • Abilities: 17/12/9
  • Advantages:
    • Backgrounds: 9
    • Arcanoi: 8 (Castigate 1 recieved automatically)
    • Passions: 7
    • Fetters: 3
  • Willpower: 5
  • Freebie Points: 15
  • Merits & Flaws
    • 7 points maximum in each
  • Starting Lores (No Cost)
    • Ghost Lore 5
    • Wraith Lore 3
    • Faction Lore 3
  • Age: 150-300 in the Shadowlands.
    • Must have a reason to be in the Toronto area or a background reflecting early French/English/Native American culture.

Template 4: Gaunt

  • Attributes: 8/6/4
  • Abilities: 19/15/10
  • Advantages:
    • Backgrounds: 5 (resticted to Resources, Status, Artifact, Relic, Allies, Eidolon)
    • Arcanoi: 10 (Argos 2, Castigate 1 you recieve automatically)
    • Passions: 5
    • Fetters: 1 (plus an additional three points set by Staff to reflect Monitors settings)
  • Willpower: 5
  • Freebie points: 15
  • Merits & Flaws
    • 7 points maximum in each
    • Note: All Gaunts must have the flaw 'Boon <5F> - Monitors' Guild'
  • Starting Lores (No Cost)
    • Ghost Lore 5
    • Wraith Lore 4
    • Faction Lore 3
  • Age: 300+ years in the Shadowlands.
    • Must have a valid reason for traveling to the Toronto area or a Native American background.

Template Adjustments

The following Adjustments are added to your primary Template. Any bonuses and given stats are placed here along along with additional stipulations as needed in the Template Rules section of this page.


  • Doomslayers

Doomslayers may be Hierarchy or other factional stances. Being a Doomslayer does not hamper you from other faction recruitment.

  • All Doomslayers shall recieve Spectre-Lore 1 justifying "knowledge of their profession"


  • Hierarchy

The adjustments you will recieve will be according to your Rank in the Legions. The Background Rank will be used to adjust Rank within the Hierarchy. The following are allowed at this time.(though Wraith Staff must approve higher than Legionnaire).


  • Rank 1: Legionnaire - Hierarchy-Lore 1, Soulsteel Sword and Armor
  • Rank 2: Centurian - Hierarchy-Lore 2, Stygian Steel Sword and Armor

Mediums

  • Standard mortal chargen.
  • Attributes: 6/4/3
  • Abilities: 11/7/4
  • Backgrounds: 5
  • Virtues: 7
  • Willpower: Starting Value = Courage rating
  • Speakers with the Dead <5pt Merit>
  • Special Note: The Merit Mediums <2pt> does not classify you as a supernatural as the ability to merely hear does not give a mortal such a touch to be a true kin to the restless dead. Speaker with the Dead however, are classified as Supernatural creatures. Same as with Kinfolk for Garou, Kinain to Fae, etc.

IC Crossing

This table is to represent the difficulty of Supernaturals crossing into the shadowlands. Though it allows possibility. All Crossovers must spend the XP to cross over and meet the criteria. Minimum XP needed: 20 pts for Passions 10 pts for Fetters, 25 points for first 5 arcanoi. Any other Merits also at XP costs.


  • Mortals: Minimum wp 5.
  • Mortal+: Minimum wp 5
  • Vampires: Path Score vs 9, Must be on Humanity, achieve 3 successes
  • Dhampyrs: Willpower vs 7, achieve 3 successes
  • Garou/Fera/Henge: Gnosis vs 4, must botch
  • Thralls: Free, but all bonds are severed
  • Possessed: Free for Kami. Fomori who cross become Spectres. Drones may not cross. Gorgons aren't human.
  • Mage: Due to the intricasies of mages and their Avatars, is up to the Avatar if it wishes for them to pursue wraithdom.
  • Changeling: Only Sluagh who die of unnatural causes that are not cold or banality.


Note: These rolls are pursued during rp, and must have previous sphere staff and wraith staff present.

Note: For clarification, this table is for supernaturals who have died to cross the shroud and become wraiths.

Template Rules

These are the rules that should be observed when creating your application. Please pay careful attention, as these are requirements for approval.

Template 1: Lemure

  • Characters may not begin game with any stat at 5, including Arcanoi, with the exception for the default of Ghost-Lore 5 and some backgrounds.
  • Arcanoi may only be level 3 or below.
    • One Arcanoi may be taken at 4 if and only if the character has the Mentor stat, has a background to reflect junior membership in the appropriate guild, and has staff permission beforehand.
    • Characters may not begin game with any of the "Alternate Arcanoi."
  • Players are required to read "+news stats" prior to application.

Template 2: Mature Lemure

  • Characters may not begin game with any stat at 5, including Arcanoi, with the exception for the default of Ghost-Lore 5 and some backgrounds.
  • Arcanoi may only be level 3 or below.
    • Arcanoi may be taken at 4 if and only if the character has a background to reflect membership in the appropriate guild.
    • Characters may not begin game with any of the "Alternate Arcanoi."
  • Players are required to read "+news stats" prior to application.

Template 3: Elder Lemure

  • Characters may begin with a singular attribute at 5 or with an Arcanoi at 5.
  • Arcanoi may only be level 4 or below.
    • One Arcanoi may be raised to 5 if and only if the character has a background to reflect full membership in the appropriate guild, and has staff permission beforehand.
    • Characters may not begin game with any of the "Alternate Arcanoi."
    • Castigate 1 is automatically placed on your sheet and does not require points spent toward it.
  • Players are required to read "+news stats" prior to application.
  • A minimum online-time requirement is enforced for characters of this stature. Template 3 Wraiths are required 7 hours per week of active Roleplay.

Template 4: Gaunt

  • Characters may begin with a single Arcanoi at 5.
    • Characters may begin game with Alternate Arcanoi only if a full member of a guild.
    • Alternate Arcanoi may not exceed level 3 at character creation.
    • Argos 2 and Castigate 1 are automatically placed on your sheet and do not require points spent toward them.
  • Players are required to read "+news stats" prior to applications.
  • A minimum online-time requirement is enforced for characters of this stature. Template 4 Wraiths are required 10 hours per week of active Roleplay.

Adjusted Template: Doomslayers

  • Characters must follow the guidelines of their Template of choice.
  • Dark Arcanoi are allowed for Character Creation, however only 3 points may be distributed amongst Dark Arcanos at Chargen.
  • Players are required to actively portray RP outside of Toronto in the Shadowlands Grid due to their profession.
