Storyteller Information
From Metro Wiki
You say you're bored? You say that you would like to get involved with something? You want a couple of scenes to entertain you while you're sitting around and wishing that you could do something? Tired of the same ol' Bar RP? Wanting to try something new and exciting? Well then, help me, and all the other Storytellers, out by taking a little bit of time to fill out the following information! Send it in a job request and we'll take a look at it.
First off, name the job title in this fashion: 'STORYTELLERS: <your login name here>'. Secondly, in the body of the email, write the following:
- 1) Your character's login name and alias.
- 2) Your character's most bare-bones details. I want the very briefest summary of your character. For example: a Garou would be your Race, Concept, Garou name, Breed, Auspice, Tribe, Camp (if you have one), and spirits/totems. Make sure your race is a part of this! Even if the details would make it obvious, it is easiest for me to know at a glance if race is there as well!
- 3) Nature and Demeanor (or for Changelings, Legacies) and what they mean to your character. I don't need a novel for this. A few sentences would be enough. A paragraph, if you're feeling ambitious. However, 'Deviant' for a gang-banger is much different than 'Deviant' for a starving artist, is much different than 'Deviant' for a doctor who believes in holistic medicine, is much different than 'Deviant' for a lawyer who believes payoffs should be made legal. Basically give me a view into your character's head with this.
- 4) A nutshell description of your character. One to two paragraphs tops. Basically, take the salient points and condense them down. The parts that are of grave importance to the character's life, personality, and the like. The parts that you, as the player, think best tell what the character is. Imagine it as if I was a friend who knew little to nothing about White Wolf. Rather than boring me with long and lavish discussions, or talking loops around me, you would bring the character into a few easy sentences that would invoke an image.
- 5) Story hooks, in point form. Look through your background. Think back on your RP. Take a little time and jot some ideas down. As many as you can think of. Fill the email if you feel it's necessary! If you feel they need explanation, feel free to do so. I'm not grading on eloquence here, though. While some detail is nice, try not to go overboard. Leave some room for creativity and surprises!
For example: your character has a daughter who was kidnapped by her father. Just putting: 'Has a daughter who was kidnapped by her father' will give me something to consider. Put down 'Has a daughter who was kidnapped by her father, was thinking of saying her father was abusive and lived in the Toronto area', and you've given me some more ideas to work with as well. A short few sentences or a few-lines paragraph are OK, too. But if you end up with a point-form that goes on for three paragraphs, then we think that's a little *too* much information. Try to be brief. If we want or need more, we promise we'll get in contact with you about it!
Wow. You're asking for a lot here! Well, yes. We are. We can't deny that. However, look at it this way: how can we tailor-make some plots to specific people if we don't know what would affect their character? Plus, if we asked ten different people 'Tell me about your character', we would get ten different ways of doing it. This way, We've got a template that can give us the information right at our fingertips, without having to ask you in the middle of things or check a sheet. *And* by doing it this way, we can stack them up where other Storytellers can get to them, so that they too can read over if they decide they want to do some short-term scenes. Face it: it's a win-win situation for you players.
Thank you, Metro's Storytellers
