Jobs vs Mail:
Jobs:
Please use +jobs for Scene requests, all sphere related roll requests, or anything that must be ‘judged’ by Sphere staff – this includes placing responses to jobs in similar format. All plot related follow up should be submitted via +jobs. For help on how to submit a job, on game: +help +requests. For help on how to use the system, +help +myjobs

Please use this to notify us of any vacations, OOC situations with other players in the spheres, or something that doesn’t involve rulings or judgments or plot
Rulings:
We are open to discussing your opinion on a matter up to the point we’ve made a ruling/decision on the matter. After that point, you may take it up with the Wizard (if an Admin decision) or file an official complaint as per the BOR with Shallow (if a Wizard decision). The reasoning for this strictness is as follows:
A)
Time spent arguing repeatedly a ruling is time taken away from running Plots, handling +Jobs, or otherwise making the sphere enjoyable for the ‘whole’
B)
We are human also. Once we’ve been set off, it pretty much ruins the rest of the ‘work day’ for what we might have had planned for +jobs, plots, etc.
C)
Sometimes the answer will be the 'Golden Rule aka storyteller says so'. This is a multisphere game and Shifter has 5 current subspheres running. Just as in a tabletop game you don't always get to know why the Storyteller says yes or no, the same will be true here. When I (Mardian) make a judgement call, its either based on whats been ruled in the past (precedent) or how I interpret the rules in place or the text of the power (judgement call). Arguing with the ruling, or demanding full explanation is a waste of my time and yours, as there are lots of times where you simply don't get to know because doing so would reveal something about another players character.
Dark vs. Non-Dark:
Each Shifter Staffer likely has a different way of viewing this, so to keep arguments or resentment from coming up, we have posted some guidelines on how we prefer it. If you do not see a staffer, please do not 'fish' for then on Channel. If it is urgent, we still have the +staffcall comment. If non-urgent, there are +jobs.
Mardian
Prefers not to be paged when Dark. If on and set DARK, it is usually because Mardian is either handling +jobs, other MU tasks or AFK. If you receive a +job or +mail response while Mardian is set Dark, please do not take this as an open invitation to page as it means she is going through all of her jobs. However - if she pages you while dark, it is a-ok to page back!

At this time, assume she goes by the strict Dark Vs. Non-Dark rules such as Mardian has posted, unless they adjust this otherwise.
On Duty versus Off Duty
Mardian
If Mardian is set Offduty, she is open to pages, but please do not page to have a scene run. Mardian usually goes off duty for short stints of being AFK, or she will be running a scheduled scene sometime in the next 20-30 minutes. Quick questions are ok, but asking for a scene will result in a Not right now, please submit a +srequest.
- Onduty – first come first served. If Mardian is onduty, she is ready and able to handle anything that comes up. Do not assume she isn’t already involved and will be right with you, but you can be confident she will get to you in the order your page was received.
Respect
As long as you show us respect, you will receive the same in response. That includes following the above requests. We understand we may not have all of the facts, or there was a miscommunication. So for the sake of our being able to function together as a sphere, we ask that you recognize that behind these Staff Titles - we are members of this same hobby and as a result are human also. So if there is a disagreement and it is really important to what you had going on or planned, then I ask that you let it go for that day. Take a step back, formulate your response as you would to a person face to face – in a cordial or respectful manner – and then submit a +mail. We will then at that time look once more at the situation before rendering the final decision on the matter. If there is still not an agreement, see the above entry on Rulings.
Books vs Conjure:
I know we are all creative players. We all come up with great ideas for what we’d like to see done. However, if it is not in one of the approved books for use on Metro, it likely will not be allowed in the game. We will look at the mechanics listed in the approved material. If you wish for something different, then the burden of proof will be on the one who is making the request. Show us where or in which book you feel gives you the impression that that Gift, Ritual or Ability allows it to function in that manner. The reason for this is:
Time
As stated above, the more time spent researching a particular question is less time spent on handling other requests, +jobs, or plots. We request you do some of that legwork for yourself so that you are prepared to make your statement, you know the mechanics, and you save us the time. We will all be much happier as a result.
