Description
Sitting out in a field with a gravel parking lot are what was once two buildings now one as they have been bridged by an enclosure of brick, steel, and glass. Over a pair of heavy double doors, one can see a sign proudly proclaiming, *Iron Wing Swords* from the front of one of the buildings. Positioned across the front of the building along the roof line are the old totem heads of Wolf, Bear, Raven, and Dragon. A sign, when looked at up close reads: Business Hours: T-F 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM; Sat 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM; Sun-Mon Closed
History
Notable Events
During November of 2001, Iron Wing Swords was the target of vandals and thieves. There were some rumors about the owner, Weylyn Green, having problems with some of the bad elements in the Cabbage Town area prior to what happened to his shop. Witnesses talk of a gang blatantly using axes to hack down his doors in the night and scaring others away while they broke in. Once in the gang stole some weapons, then in frustration (or so the rumor goes) over not being able to break the weapon racks easily; the gang set fire to the shop. Before the last of the flames had died, the area Councilman was already speaking out about how businesses using chemicals were going to be managed more carefully and that Cabbage Town didn't need dangerous businesses like the Iron Wing. A move that was clearly intended to force Mr. Green out of the neighborhood. Peterborough's council eager for a cultural heritage style of business like the Iron Wing extended an offer to help Mr. Green relocate his business. As a result, the Iron Wing was back in business before Christmas and in full production by February of 2002.
